Buddy Island Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Buddy Island is a learning game for kids made by Jackall Creative. We built it so kids can play and learn safely. This page explains what happens with data in the app and on the website.

The short version

What stays on your device

The app saves each kid's profile name or nickname, age, level, stars, shells, drawings, and Builder Yard worlds on the device only, using the device's own storage. It is not sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes this data. A grown-up can also delete a profile inside the app.

Tasks and chores

A grown-up can set lessons and chores for each kid in Grown-ups, behind the grown-up PIN. These are saved on the device. They are not sent anywhere unless a grown-up turns on Grown-up phone.

Grown-up phone (optional, off unless you link a phone)

Grown-up phone lets a grown-up send lessons and chores from their own phone and OK chores from there. A grown-up starts it in Grown-ups, behind the PIN, and types a one-time code on the phone page at buddy-island.pages.dev/family. While a phone is linked, the device and the phone share this through our small task server, run on Cloudflare:

We never send kid names, ages, pictures, game progress, play time, or any other play data. There is no account, email, or password.

How long it is kept: Unlink, on the device or on the phone, deletes the link and everything in it from the server right away. Daily check marks are deleted after 30 days. Removed tasks are deleted after 30 days. A link that nobody uses for 120 days is deleted. A code that no phone joins is deleted within a day.

Keeping codes safe: Codes work once and end after 15 minutes. To stop guessing, the server counts wrong tries. It keeps only a scrambled (hashed) form of the internet address, which changes every day, and deletes these counts within a day. Like any web host, Cloudflare may keep short technical logs (such as IP address) for security. We turned off extra request logging for the task server.

On the phone: the phone page saves its link key, a copy of the task list, and any nicknames in that phone's browser storage. Unlink or clearing site data removes them.

Voice and sound

Buddy's voice clips are recordings packed inside the app. The app never uses the microphone and never records anyone.

Purchases (app only)

The full island unlock is sold through the Apple App Store, and Apple handles the payment. The app asks Apple on the device whether the full island is unlocked. We do not get your card, name, email, or Apple ID. Apple only shares sales totals with us. See Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

The website

The website version at buddy-island.pages.dev is a set of static files hosted by Cloudflare. We do not add analytics, cookies, or ads. On the website, kid profiles, progress, parent settings, and the Shell Bank are saved in your browser's own storage on your device. Clearing site data for buddy-island.pages.dev deletes them, and it also resets parent settings and Shell Bank data. Like any web host, Cloudflare may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address) for security.

Children's privacy

Buddy Island is made for kids. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's Kids Category rules. Purchase screens, outside links, and Grown-up phone sit behind a grown-up check. Grown-up phone is started by a grown-up, sends no personal information about the child, and can be deleted any time with Unlink. The kid screens have no links to the phone page.

Sharing

We do not sell or share personal information. The app has no ads, analytics, or trackers. Grown-up phone data is stored with Cloudflare, who runs our task server, and is not shared with anyone else. Purchases go only through Apple.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
